11,055 fans watched an exciting game at the ballpark. The Vernon Hillbillies
were certainly pleased to stop the bleeding as their 5 game losing streak was
finally halted and topped the Chainsaw Proctologists by the slimmest of
margins, 5 to 4.
Vernon jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating an
isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Chainsaw threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.
James Shields(17-11) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Dallas
Braden(7-9) absorbed the loss. 'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals'
said Rick Graves after the game. 'We lost this game tonight because we
didn't follow the instructions every Little Leaguer hears every day.'
